Mathematics
How did you go last week? This week we're working in the area of Whole Numbers. You'll be doing activities on Ascending and Descending Order (Remember we talked about ascending and descending in an aeroplane.... you just have to remember when you're coming down to land it's descending (down) and then you know what ascending (up) means.
Then there are some tasks set on Ordinal Numbers and Number Patterns. Now I can hear you thinking.... What on earth are Ordinal Numbers? I'm not going to tell you here but go to Maths Online and you'll soon be saying "Oh I know what they are!"
Today though I'd just like you to do the first task - save the others for one each day up toad including Thursday.
Hands on activity today is to find 10 random numbers around the house eg flip open a book - what page are you on? What house number are you? Then when you've found 10 - write them in ascending order - smallest to biggest - going up in value. (Remember: Neatly, neatly, neatly)
Literacy
Some new Literacy tasks have been set in Literacy Planet for you. We're focussing on Information Reports this term and so these comprehension activities will give us a lead in to more structured class work commencing in Week 2.
Writing
Go to Pobble 365 on the Quick Links tab.  Our writing topic this week is A Giant's Game. Have a good look at the illustration and read through the Story Starter. Have a think about how the story might continue..... let's go on with that tomorrow. For now, go to Question Time and answer the questions neatly in your book, remembering a title and the date.

Reading
How did you go last week designing a page to record the books you have read?

So yesterday was all about ascending (going up) order and today is about descending (going down) order. You should be getting really good at this by now. Don't forget if you need a bit of help review the tutorial or even have a look at the pdf lesson overview at the bottom of your Maths Online task page.
Can you find another 10 random numbers around the house to repeat yesterdays activity but this time put them in order from the highest to the lowest.
Literacy
Literacy Planet - continue with the tasks I've set for you there on Information Reports/
Writing
A Giant's Game continued. Title a brand new page and in your neatest handwriting (handwriting lesson as well), rewrite the beginning of the story. For the next 30 minutes see if you can continue the story. Use your imagination and use words to really paint a picture of what's happening in the mind of the reader. Check your spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Reading
Find a comfy spot and read your book for around 20 minutes. How is your book going? Talk to someone about the main idea.

When you've finished the activity (and Passed) go to the bottom of the Maths Online page and have some fun with some of the games or challenges - see how you go with the 5 times tables.
Literacy
Literacy Planet - How did you go yesterday? Keep working on the set tasks please and go exploring if you finish everything.
Writing
How did you go with your writing yesterday? Did you paint a picture with your words? If you need to finish it off today is the day for that and to also see if you can complete the Sentence Challenge - aim for 3 stunning sentences ok?
Reading
Read for your 20 minutes.
Draw a quick picture of a scene from your book - it doesn't have to be perfect but try to include as much detail as possible.

Mathematics
Your last Maths Online task for this week (unless you need to go back and do some revision) is a task on Number Patterns. Remember I can see how you are going when I log on. Use your problem solving strategies if you get stuck. Remember you can rewind the guy on the tutorial as many times as you like and he never, ever complains!
When you've finished the task I'd like you to explain it to someone else at home. Teaching someone else will help you consolidate your learning. If no-one is available perhaps you could do some practise of your own, choosing numbers of your own and write it in your Home Book.
Literacy
A little bit of fun with Onomatopoeia..... ???? Go to Study Ladder to find out more for this one. There's a tutorial to watch and then an activity to complete. Can you think of any of your own? Write and illustrate 3 if you can.

Writing

Writing
Design the front page of a newspaper. What will your paper be called? What title for your interview would make people want to look and read it?
Create your newspaper page 1 featuring the interview with your parent on Home Learning.
