HOMEWORK

Week 10

  • Week 10 words are from each child's individual spelling list. Spending time learning this words during the week by completing a Look, Cover, Write, Say and Check will help. A separate page will be provided for this task to be completed on and handed in by Thursday morning.
  • Scheduling when this work is done is entirely up to you and your personal timetable.
  • We've just completed a unit of work covering multiplication and division. To practise these and build rapid recall of multiplication facts we'll focus on a new number each week. Week 9 was the 2 times tables - Week 10 will focus on the 4times tables.
  • Reading every day is an expectation and a great part of our daily routine.

INDEPENDENT READING

Picture
We know the benefits of fluent and independent reading skills influence success in all aspects of learning which is why this time in school is so highly valued. For many students this is one of their favourite times of the day and it's important to continue this routine at home as well. Fortunately reading at home might offer a more relaxed or varied environment for students to read. Sitting outside in the fresh air or in a comfy chair are often more difficult to provide at school and so please enjoy these moments and appreciate how great it is.
You might be interested in reading 'How to Encourage Good Reading Habits in Kids' or to view the Mom Fox video promoting and explaining the importance of reading to your child, even when they are considered an independent reader.
